The First Day of Summer

June 21, 2007 is officially the first day of Summer, as shown in my calender. Woke up to rain (??!!) that morning. It's Sunday afternoon now, and looks clear outside. Maybe we'll get our summer after all?

Let kids be kids

Couple of things was happening at Whalley early today, despite the slight showers we had - Community Festival by the library and Pinoy Festival in the mall 1 block ahead.

Before that,we were at few yard sales in the neighbourhood. Got a tripod for my digicam for a tonnie while Papa Labu paid 50cts for his bunny/hamster water bottle! We even got a box of freebie! They were almost done up for the day & don't want to haul anything back in the house. Among the things in the box, I found a handfan (the kind where geisha uses in her dance) and a seahorse shape watergun. Needless to say, the fan broke within 30mins of showing Abang how to fan & him sharing it with Baby! The watergun remains in the backyard, where they can have fun squirting later.

Back to the happenings in Whalley, watched a bit of the Kid's Talent show at the Pinoy Festival. A little girl abt 8 or 9 yrs old was singing some lovestruck song?! The audience (or maybe family members/friends) clapped when she hit the high notes. Maybe it just me, but I cringe everytime I see or hear little girl sings 'I want you baby, I need you'. The same thing too while we were watching America Got Talent audition few days ago, where another younger girl strain her vocals 'tell him I'm gonna stay' or wateva the song was. Why can't these girls sing a nice simple song like a Rainbow connection or My Favourite Things?

We did not stay long enuff at the mall to see who won the Talent show but as we were leaving, we saw another little girl in a wedding dress!!?? running after her mom. Maybe Fancy Dress Contest right after the Talent Show. Good luck girls!!

Word to my little girl - Don't grow up so fast, k?

119 days and counting

119 days more to go till I step on Singapore soil!! Last time I was there was Dec/Jan 2001. Gosh, I miss Everything there! Friends here who have made the trip home kept telling me abt the heat (like I don't know, eh?) One even got lost in Taka coming out from the MRT! Have Singapore changed so much during our absence or have WE changed?? Guess I'll find that out soon, eh?

In the meantime, I've done a little bit of shopping for family back home. I'm really looking forward to finally meeting my niece, (she's only 4 days apart from Baby!) and my grand-nephew & the latest addition, my grand-niece who'll be 6 mths when I see her. Everybody is anxious how it will be when all 5 kids (all under 5!) will react when they meet. I'll know my kids will ever be so shy & hide behind me. It'll be awhile for them to warm up to the rest. But once they do, I'd better keep those earplugs handy!

I hope I have the time to bring them all over Singapore. I wanna take them shopping at Geylang for Hari Raya shopping, Orchard Road just to chill & have coffee with my frens and introduce them to ice-cream potong & ice-cream roti! (Do they still have that along Orchard Road?)

I'm sure they'll enjoy the double-decker bus ride and the view from Mak Su's 13th storey! I just hope they can take the heat. Papa has already reminded me to pack lots of tanks & shorts for them!

The 'Other' Famili

Last week, we found out that the kitties are female! Neither of us know how to spot the sex, but a fren came by & flipped them over & showed us! Hahahha! Fortunately they both have non-gender specific names.

And here are the little ones

This is Starsky, Abang's favorit.

and this is Tanny, Baby's favorit (& mine too) They even like taking naps together!

And the mama cat is Cleo.
